Indoor air quality should be important to every homeowner. At Southland Heating and Air we offer many solutions to indoor air quality challenges. Including installations of air purifiers, air filtration systems, UV germicidal lights, and more!
Anyone can improve their indoor air quality and living environment with an air filtration system. Paint, cleaning chemicals, and many other household products can produce dangerous airborne toxins throughout your home. Most people do not realize this and often suffer from headaches, light headedness, nausea, and even worse all as a result of toxins that are inhaled. Unfortunately, children and the elderly are even more susceptible to these indoor air problems. A filtration system can help cleanse the air so you and your family can remain healthy and relax in a clean environment.
Southland takes Indoor Air Quality very seriously. Our knowledgeable staff will ask a few questions about your family and your home to help use determine which IAQ product will work best for your particular situation in your home. Additionally, we will do a visual inspection of your home to track down the areas of dust infiltration and other contaminants.

Do you have virus protection on your computer…? Most people do. But most people do not have it on their home. You should. At Southland, we wouldn’t hurt a fly. Mold and bacteria are another story. Let’s face it: the indoor coil of your cooling system is just the kind of place these harmful things like to hang out. Our UV lamps protect the coil, ruthlessly killing off mold, viruses and bacteria before they can be pushed into the conditioned air of your home.
Your indoor coil is the part of your air conditioning system where the cooling takes place. It can also be a fertile area for microscopic growth if left unprotected. Remember things that grow in the system can potentially become airborne…
Mold and bacteria like to grow in this kind of dark, moist environment. What they do not like is ultraviolet light. To them, it’s a killer. Where our UV lamps really shine is at minimizing the microbial build-up on coils, improving system efficiency and, most importantly, keeping mold and bacteria out of your system and the air you breathe. A UV light is a great investment. Don’t leave your indoor coil unprotected. A cleaner healthier environment is only a phone call away. Call us today to learn more.
There are many options when it comes to air filters and air purifiers. Consider the size of the pollutants that you are trying to filter. Get your air tested to determine what allergens or pollutants are present in your home. A media filter may capture dust and pollen but smaller particles like mold spores or smoke particles will go right through it. The highest rated media filters (HEPA) can capture up to 99.9% of all contaminants 0.3 microns or larger. If you have smaller pollutants in your home, consider the whole house option. The whole house air cleaner is installed with your furnace or air handler. That way all the air that circulates your house is filtered through the air cleaner. Some air cleaners today can remove 99.99% of air borne allergens that are filtered through the system including pollutants smaller than .1 microns.
